On Thursday, the 14th of April, 2016. At 9:30 a.m. stood the teachers and students of the University of Zakho five minutes in silence out of respect for the souls of martyrs of Anfal Campaign. Afterwards, at 10:30 a.m. a seminar was presented by Mr.Khalat Mosa by using documentaries about Anfal Genocide, in the presence of Assist.Pro.Dr.Lazgin Abdi Jameel, the president of the University of Zakho along with the vice presidents, Deans of Faculties and Colleges, teachers and students of the University of Zakho.

Worth knowing, Anfal Campaign started in 1986 till the 6th of September, 1988. This Campaign was led by Ali Hassan Al-Majid, also known as Ali Chemical (Ali Kimyawi) for his use of chemical weapons in attacks against the Kurds. His Baath forces killed men, women and the elderly of Kurds, displaces thousands of them, destroyed thousands of their villages and disdained some others to other Iraqi areas. This genocide resembles a massive loss in the Kurd's history as more than 182.000 Kurdish citizens were killed, therefore Kurdistan Regional Government commemorates Anfal Campaign on 14th of April every year.
